shelving 101
People always ask me the easiest way to approach accessorizing shelving. Here are some easy tips.
1. Varying heights (picture frame with a tall vase).
2. Varying textures (succulent with a wooden bowl).
3. Varying shapes (ceramic sculpture with a circular frame).
4. Varying objects (vintage books with a sleek vase)..
Once you have these items, you can just play around with it. You could pair a white picture frame with a shorter, green succulent. This gives you a change in color, object, texture, and height. Items paired in groups of 3 are always more desired. For example, in the photo below, I have paired different groups of items, 3 groups to a shelf, and varied the heights of each group. Although one group may have two items, like the two candlesticks, together, they look as one group.
So give it a try! It's a lot of fun, and you can mix it up all the time!
