| additive and subtractive color |

Color is such a cool thing.

Mixing colors is even cooler. But what's behind it all?

First off, let's talk about subtractive and additive color.

Subtractive:

"The more color that is mixed, the more the mixture approaches a dark gray leaning towards black."

Mixtures of reflected color lose light.

So you could say that subtractive color is a mix of reflected light.

Additive:

Additive color is a direct mixture of projected light.

It is the opposite of projected light.

When we are using additive colors, we are layering one on top of the other.
