Optical Mixtures
Inspired by the French Impressionists, famous painters wouldn't mix their colors on the pallette, they would put small amounts of paint on the canvas and allow the eye to mix the colors for them. For example, they would put small amounts of yellow and blue on the canvas, this leads to the eye seeing green.
We call this optical mixture.
During this process, two colors are "first annulled and made invisible, and then replaced by a substitute called opticlal mixture."
Specifically, in this example, the inversion of color alters the light and weight of the original.
Here 5 colors are viewed and seen as fewer colors.
Check back for more next week.
