The Square Project
For the past 15 years, Auburn University's Interior Design program has had an infamous project due sophomore year- The Square Project. This project is a right of passage, a point that you've made it in the program. It begins by selecting a famous work by a respectable artist. You then blow the image up to 4' wide or tall. Next, you place a grid of 1/2" squares across the entire work. Next, you create the same famous work through 1/2" squares. What's the catch? You can only use a few paint colors. You are forced to learn the art of color mixing. All-in-all, this taught more time management than I care to admit. Check out some picstures of my trying journey through the Square Project.
The finished product!
Strips of watercolor paper were cut into strips. I then painted them and arranged them close to their place on the board.
Cut, glue, repeat.
Progress!
My mom and friends helping!
More friends helping!
Madness in studio!
As you can see, it took a lot of work. I'm eternally thankful to all my friends and family who helped cut and glue!
